We always get a little sad when the main classical music season ends and all the musicians go to their fun summer festivals. But, this can only mean that the Mann Center's season is just around the corner!
Monday
For the 150th anniversary of Robert Schumann's death, the Kimmel Center presents "The Romantic World of Robert Schumann" with Jeffrey Siegel, piano. This program takes a look at the passion behind Robert Schumann's piano works and asks whether it was infused with love, mental instability, or both.

Wednesday
The Kimmel Center also presents Russian piano virtuoso Evgeny Kissin as part of its Master Musician Series. Kissin's program includes works by many piano greats: Schubert, Beethoven, Brahms, and Chopin.

Thursday
The Philly Orchestra will play Berlioz's moving Symphonie Fantastique, a grand symphonic poem depicting a poet's love and ultimate downfall.

Friday
As part of its "Last Fridays" series, Liebesfreud will play another of its free concerts at the Philadelphia Art Alliance. They haven't announced their program yet. Regardless, it's a wonderful way to end the week.

The Academy of Vocal Arts' last show of the season is Massenet's heart-wrenching Manon.

Saturday
Astral Artistic Services presents one of its Rising Stars concerts featuring up and coming artists and the Haddonfield Symphony Orchestra in a program of Beethoven, Hindemith, and Shostakovich.

Sunday
The Chorale of Haverford and Bryn Mawr will sing Andrea Clearfield's "The Golem Psalms" and Ernst Bloch's “Sacred Service,” two wonderful and often-neglected Jewish choral works.
